Muuvr is a newly launched fitness rewards app that works a little bit differently to others that have come before.

The idea behind Muuvr is that as you record and log rides, runs or swims, the activities will be converted into an in-app currency based off of the time, distance and intensity of the workout. This in-app currency called Muuvs can be used in the app's marketplace (launching in the new year) to buy gear and event admissions.

Muuvr pairs with apps such as, Apple Fitness and Garmin Connect to access recorded activities. Along with the ability to buy real-world equipment, the app also provides a community feel with events and in-app rankings to encourage users to stay active.

What is interesting with the currency or Muuvs calculation is that it is done using a bespoke sports science algorithm that is benchmarked against every user’s unique activity level. This puts everyone’s earning potential on the same level regardless of age, gender or ability. The use of a rating system like this prevents professional or nearly professional athletes having the upper hand when compared to someone starting out their fitness journey, and comes as a welcome addition.

Muuvr is free to download on iOS and Android devices with the market place visible but not open for purchases until early next year

When using the app there are nine separate categories that Muuvr offers users, from earning physical rewards, comparing and competing with yourself and other users to arranging meet-ups and building a fitness community near you.

Muuvr co-founder and CEO, Michael Hartweg, says that, "Muuvr was born out of a deep passion for transforming the way we approach fitness."

"Our mission goes beyond mere activity tracking – we're building a dynamic platform that celebrates every stride, stroke, and pedal. Muuvr is the partner that turns sweat into tangible rewards, breathing life into dedication.

"Our vision reaches far beyond our launch – we see a future where our community thrives, where our partnerships span the globe, and where innovation is our heartbeat. Together, we're redefining the fitness journey, one Muuv at a time."

The app is available to download on both iOS and Android devices, with the ability to record activities and accrue reward points. Muuvr has said that the in-app shop will be up and running in the new year with brands such as HUUB and X-Bionic already on board. Until the shop is live for purchases, users can add items to their wish lists in preparation.
